Youth General Strength and Conditioning Class

6th-7th Grade

This class is tailored to 6th and 7th grade students that have little to no experience with formal exercise or weight training. The mission of this class is to get the students moving! We will focus on bodyweight and light external resistance exercises, as well as games and competitions. Our goal for the class is to introduce the students to common exercises and make the connection between fun and fitness.

8th Grade

This class is tailored to 8th grade students that have little to no experience with strength and conditioning. In this class, our focus is movement with proper mechanics, flexibility, and the building of a physical foundation. The students will learn how to squat, hinge, push, and pull with no external resistance before being introduced to intermediate exercises with external resistance. Our goals for the class are to learn proper movement mechanics, introduce the students to structured exercise and training programs, increase flexibility, and avoid sports-related injuries.

9th Grade

This class is for 9th grade students that have little to no experience with strength and conditioning. In this class, we will be introducing the main barbell exercises (squat, bench, deadlift, overhead press, and other variations) that are frequently used in the high school weight training classes as well as continuing to build off non-barbell exercises that are introduced at the middle school level. Our goals for the class are to gain confidence in the weight room and in sport, avoid sports-related injuries, and instill a long-lasting healthy relationship with exercise.

10-12th Grade

This class is tailored to 10-12th grade students that have some experience with strength and conditioning. While still using the fundamentals and mechanics that were developed during the earlier years of training we begin emphasizing increasing strength, power, speed, and agility. Our goals for the class are to improve sport/recreation performance, avoid sports-related injuries, continue building confidence, and instill a long-lasting healthy relationship with exercise.
